BIGAMY CASE
MAN SENT TO GAOL
"Bigamy is a very serious offence, and ,in this case the offence was deliberate; the prisoner deceived these- two women, and deceived the authorities by describing himself' as a bachelor in the 'marriage''certificate,"- said Mr. Justice MacG-regor at the Supreme Court today when he sentenced Edward Eeginald Burb to six months' imprisonment on a-charge of bigamy.
The prisoner • .married a' -woman in England in January, 1920, and went through a forhi of marriage at Petone this year. Mr. W. IV Boilings, who appealed for the defendant, said that the first marriage was a war one. The prisoner ,did not live • with his wife, and had come to Now Zealand soon after the marriage.
