The New Zealand Jieat Producers' Board has received the following cable front its London office, dated December 15, advising that the following are the approximate average prices realised for the week at Smithfield Market and London stores, compared with those of the previous week in parentheses:— New Zealand Sheep.—Canterbury and North Island selected crossbred wethers and maiden ewes, 48-561b 5d per lb (4 7-8 d), 57-641b 4%d (4 3-8 d), 65-721b'4 l-8d (4d); North Island, 48-561b 5d (4 7-8 d), 57-641b 4 3-8 d (4'4d), 65-721b 4 l-8d (4d); ewes, 48lb and under 4 3-Sd (4%d), 48-641b 3 5-8 d '(3 5-8 d), 65-721b 3 3-8 d(3 3-8 d). New Zealand Lambs,—Canterbury, 361b and under 6 7-8 d (6 7-8 d), 37-421b 6 5-8 d (6 5-8 d); second quality, average 321b 6d (6d); other South Island brands, 361b and under 7d (7d); 37-421b 6%d (6%d). Australian Lambs.—Victorian, first quality, new season's, 361b and under 6%d (6%d), 37-421b 6 5-8 d (6 5-8 d). Lamb market: New , season's arrivals meeting with rather sl6w demand owing' to extremely cold weather demanding heavier moat; Portion of Tamaroa lambs now available are selling from 7%d to B%d ex hooks. Mutton market: Wethers and ewes very firm owing to strong com-petition-for the small stocks available. Beef market: Jleeting with better consumption, bnt prices unchanged. NewZealand porker pigs: Firm with good trade, especially lightweight. New Zealand baeoner pigs: Remain nominal with very little inquiry.
The New Zealand Loan and JJereantile Agency Co., Ltd., has received the following advice from its London house, dated December 16: —"Lamb: Demand good, new season's Downs, 7%d; primes, 7 %d. Jlutton firmer."
