Scores of round 70 and under are being put up almost every weekend round -Wellington, under the fast-course conditions. It must be borne in mind that it is only the cool putter whose nerves are in first-rate order who can tako advantage of tho conditions, and the great majority of players feel a chill at the nape of the neck when con-, fronted with a pu ( tt on a sloping, fiery green. The "trembles" are not confined to the putter. The mashie shot which may overrun the green and trickle down a bank has equally unpleasant possibilities.
