Miss Iv. presided at the recent inectfng of the Beikiorahgi-Wai-kanae Women's Institute, when Councillor C. A. Monk spoke on the work of local bodies. A special vote of thanks was accorded Mrs. Deakin for her untiring efforts in selling the Blind Institute wares. A vote of thanks was also passed to Henly in Arden (England) Women's Institute for books and kind wishes. The winners of the competition for a Christmas present costing not more than ono shilling were Mrs. Wilson (first), Miss Buchanan (second), Miss Campion (third). A pair of slippers was won by Miss J. ITdy, and a -peg bag by Mrs. Priddey. . . • • The hostesses were Mesdames, Kernsley and ITdy_ and Miss Udy.
