BRITISH TOBACCO.
Profit of British Tobacco Company (Australia), Ltd., at £585,010 for the year ended October 31 is slightly above the profit for the previous year. Ordinary dividend ia unchanged at 6 per cent, per annum, paid in four quarterly distributions, and absorbed £488,067. Preference dividend of 6% per cent, required £96,507, and the balance, $1036, added to £31,085 brought forward, makes £32,121 to be carried forward. The report states that, in view of the difficult trading conditions which prevailed during the year, the profits of the subsidiary companies were maintained at a satisfactory figure.
Horlicks ■ Malted Milk Co. (Australia), Ltd., has been formed to acquire from Hnrlicks Malted Milk Co., Ltd., England, certain patent rights and other assets for the purchase, manufacture, and gale of goods manufactured and dealt in by the English company. The Australian company, whose capital is £5006, has been registered in New South Wale*. ■
