SLANDER ALLEGED
A TREASURER'S BOOKS
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHUISTCHURCH, This Bay. An incident at the October meeting of the Aranui Burgesses' Association. Tcsulted in an action for alleged slander which was heard in the: Magistrate's Court this morning. The plaintiff, Victor Herbert Bremner, a schoolmaster, claimed £50 damages from James Taylor Dickie, a salesman. The plaintiff alleged that at the meeting the defendant falsely and maliciously spoke and published of the plaintiff, who was treasurer of the social committee, the following words: "If it is any information for you, I have seen Mr. Bremner's books, and they are not in order." The plaintiff alleged that the defendant laid great stress on the word "not." I The"case is 'proceeding. ''' '",.'•".
