He is held on lease by Mr. H.,E. Troutbeck, of Hawke's Bay, for whom he is being trained by Luke Wilson at Awapuni. According to southern, advice it is now possible that Great Star will be racing at the Auckland Meeting. He is still suffering from the effects of his poisoned leg,' ■but is otherwise quite well. He and his stablemate Grand Review executed strong work over two circuits at Riccarton on Saturday morning, sprinting a few furlongs in the middle stage of each circuit. Nightly and Rocket were companions in a useful nine furlongs the reverse way on the plough at Riccarton last Saturday morning, running the distance in 2tnin 2 2-Ssec. Nightly was going better over the final stages than in a previbua gallop during the week.. Rocket went smoothly all the way, and could have improved the time if required. Nightly " will • not be a starter in the Hororata Cup at Riccarton on Saturday owing to the risk of incurring a penalty for the Auckland Cup, the conditions for which provide that a winner of any race after the declaration of the cup weights may be rehandicapped. This was overlooked when Nightly was nominated for Hororata. However, he will be seen in action at the meeting, as arrangements are being made for him- and-Rocket to give an exhibitidn gallop during an interval in the programme. ■■
