EIGHT-GAR BOWING
AUSTRALIAN VISIT OFF
The council of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association decided last evening to defer sending an invitation for a New South Wales eight-oar crew to visit New Zealand. Local associations were asked if they were prepared to support the visit financially. Their replies indicated that they would have some difficulty at the present . time |in finding the necessary finance. The council decided to defer the 'sending' of the invitation for a year or two when it is anticipated that conditions will have improved. • The following provisional crew has been selected by Mr. D. G. Gray to represent Wellington in the interprovincial eights:— li. Home (str), C. Gimblett, G. Crabtree, A. Hope, W. J. Lind, H. Maekay, D. McBride, and C. H. Bishop (bow). Emergencies: K. Boswell and B. Crane. Coach, Mr. McGrath (Petone Rowing Club). The crew comprises members of the Petone Chib only. This ia the first occasion on 'which a club crew has been to represent Wellington in the interprovincial eights. • '
