LONG TRAIL SAMPLE ASSAYS

The directors of the Long Trail Gold Mining C 0.,. Ltd., report that they visited the mine at Coroinandel in company with v mining engineer who sampled the mine and assayed the 'samples with the following results: —McNeil's intermediate level, Long Trail reef: Sample (1), 14.5dwt gold bullion per ton width 20in; (2), lOdwt, 18in; (3). 14.5dwt, 20in. Low level: (4), lOdwt, 12in. No. 2 leader: (5), B.suVt, 12in; (6), 55.7dwt, 12in. Red Trail reef: Top level, (7), 34.3dwt, 14in; low level, (8), 30dwt. 30in. Samples taken from Sunday Reef and panned off showed payable ore for a width of 4ft 3in.

■ A new mine manager has been appointed and a scheme of operations approved. It is intended that the following work will be commenced shortly:—(l) The completion of No. 2 level, which will open up a payable block of ore under Mr. McNeil's intermediate. (2) Driving a crosscut to intersect No. 2 leader to open up a block of ore under the present surface drive which shows high-grade ore for a distance of 200 feet. (3) The extending oE Red Trail low level tunnel on the Red l'iail Reef to open up a block of ore under No. 1 level 'where high-grade ore shows along the floor. (4) The, driving of a new low level from I'attersoivs Creek adjacent to the battery to intersect Sunday Reef, Coffin Reef. No. 2 Reef, No. 3 Reef, and Long Trail Reef. This crosscut will intersect the various reefs at least 160 feet below the present lowest workings and ill line with the pitch of the ore shoots and will successfully deal with the transport problem. With these works completed sufficient ore will be opened up to keep the mill-running for years.
