NEW ST. FRANCIS HALL

The enlargements and improvements which have been'carried out m St. Francis Hall, Hill Street, have madeit easily the best-appointed hall ot its kind in Wellington. A fully-equipped 'stage 24f fc across the opening and an deep has been built at the northern end on Tand acquired in Guilford Terrace. It has an elaborate lighting system adequate for.all manner of concert and theatrical performances, and ' there is ample dressing-room accommodation. The ' lighting of the . hall itself harmonises with the decorative scheme, which has been carried out in a dignified and beautiful manner, the painted walls being neatly panelled and shading off from gold to pale cream. A gallery has been provided which will seat 112 people, and the total seating capacity is now about 700,"' real upholstered theatre- seats having been secured for the centre block. Great, improvements have also been made in the entrance and in. the capacity of the kitchen and supper rooms. Mr. T. J. McCosker was the architect for the work. Mr. ,S. Johns built in the stage and dressingrooms, and Mr. C. O'Neil the gallery and alterations to the entrance and supper-rooms. Mr. W. J.j Conroy, of the 8.0.C. Studios, carried out the interior decorations and stage scenery, and Mr. M. McElligott was responsible for the electrical fittings. .
