DEFENCE IN EMERGENCY
VALUE OF AIRCRAFT
(Received December 13/ 2 p.m.) LONDON, December 12. Tho "Yorkshire Post's" aeronautical correspondent sa}rs that provided the international situation is unchanged, the Royal Air Force will bo increased by four squadrons of about fifty aeroplanes in 1934, three squadrons for Home defence and the other for overseas. 'Already Homo defence has been reduced by one squadron which left for Singapore last week; It is significant that aerial strategists regard the Scottish manoeuvres on September 15 as bearing on Singapore responsibilities. If an emergency arose in tho Par East the extent to which the defence would bo entrusted to the air arm would bo dependent on the effectiveness of ■'operations similar to those visualised in the Firth of Forth.
