HUTT POWER BOARD
The chairman (Mr. A. Anderson) prosided at' a meeting of the Hutt Valley Electric Power Board yesterday afternoon.
The class captain of the Petone Memorial Technical College's home science classes wrote^ thanking the board, on behalf of the girls and instructors, for the installation of the electric range, which was proving very satisfactory. The Education Board wrote thanking the Power Board for the expeditious manner in which the range was installed, and also for the additional gift to the school of an electric jug. '
The statistical returns for 'September were given by the "engineer/and general manager (Mr: K. Il'. Hollands). The maximum demands were 2520 k.v.a. on September 4 at 6.15 p.m. at .95 p.f., at Melling, and 1830 k.v.a. on September 14 at 11.30 a.m. at .93 p.f., at Khandallah. The units registered for the month were 1,075,700 at Melling, and 741,000 at Khandallah.
The following are the statistical returns for the quarterly period ended September 30; thefigures for the corresponding period last year being, given in parentheses:— Total number of installations, 11,300 (11,032); total connected load k.w. 41,517 (39,992). The units registered per month were:-July, 2,127,800 (1,946,100); August, 1,937.100 (2,063,900); September, 1,817,300 (1,006,400), there being a decrease for the three months of 34,200 units. The number of installations for the quarter was 50 (64); ranges, 17 (16); cookers, 4 (7); water heaters, 14 (22). The comparisons of power Bales from April 1 to September 30 this year and last are as follows, last year's figures being given in parentheses:—Domestic lighting, £20,525 16s lid (£21,404 Is 7d): commercial lighting, £5677 5s 3d (£5643 14s lid); heating and rooking, £12,19S Ss lid (£11,763 16s fld); water heating, £4505 16s 11 d(£4SOS ISsOd); power, £13,400 6s 2d (£13,131 17s lid); street lighting, £2397 3s (£2453 2s Od).
