The Turkish Government has approved the appointment o£ Mr. A. H. Reid as Director-General of thq Ottoman Bank in Turkey. Mr. Reid, who hails from Inverness, lias acted as assistant t,o the Direc-tor-General for some ten years past. Before that he worked for the Ottoman Bank in Bagdad. This highly-coveted post of the .most important foreign, banking institution in Turkey is usually held by a Frenchman. The Ottoman Bank is an Anglo-French concern, with its head office in London. Since the war Frenchmen had held the poet continuously. Mr. Reid'3 appointment has been well received in Turkish and Bi'itish financial circles.
