Harriers
By "Mercury." TANADEES CUP RACE
PARKHOUSE'S IMPROVEMENT
FIRST AND FASTEST
The Taiiadees Cup race held by the Scottish Club was tho main harrier event last Saturday. G. Parkhousc, with oOsec handicap, scored a notable victory in securing first j)lace and fastest time. This runner has plenty of ability, but,has sometimes seemed to lack confidence. His performances during the early part of the season were not..altogether outstanding, but he has been consistently improving in the last two or three races. In the Le Gayo Rose Bowl race, he was not in the first six. In the next race, the MeVilly Shield, he secured sixth fastest time in the club. In the Kcnnet Cup race, held at 1 Christchurch, he was again sixth man in the club team. In tho Dorno Cup race, ho improved very considerably on this by tieing for second place amongst his club members, and gained sixth place in the race, and he finished full of running. In tho Tanadees Cup race, he has put up fastest time, and his performance was indeed; a very meritorious one. Possibly the conditions may have upset some of the other runners more than they did Parkhouse, %ut in tho writer's opinion the explanation is that Parkhouse has gathered more confidence, and if he can retain this he. will be a- very difficult man to beat. It must be said, however, that Stevens was not at his best on Saturday. \
