WOMEN SPEAKERS.
Probablj' not'since Jfiss Maude Royden lectured in Wellington has there been the opportunity of listening to women speakers so conversant ■with world affairs and problems' as Miss van Ascli van Wyck (pronounced "ton Ars fon Vake"), and Miss Charlotte Xiven, world president arid secretary, respectively, of the Y.W.G.A. On Tuesday night next, in the Concert Chamber, Miss van Asch van Wyck will speak on "Women and World Affairs," while Miss'Niveh has chosen "Youth Around the World" as her subject.- A special Maori welcome and poi dance will be given for the visitors by the Poneke Ladies' Hockey Club, and international tableaux have been arranged by the local Y.W.C.A. It is expected that both the Consul for the Netherlands (Mr. Harold Johnston, K.C.), imd the American Consul (Mr. Calvin Hitch) will speak, Miss van Asch van Wyck being a Dutch and Miss Xiven an American citizen. A committee, representing leading women's societies, is co-operating witli the Y.W.C.A. in arranging the welcome.
