A MAN'S PULLOVER

As a change from jumpers worked in stocking stitch and cable stitch, directions are given'this week for'making a jumper in panels of 5 plain and 5 moss stitch. This will fit a 3oin chest measurement. . . ■ , . Materials required: Twelve Ounces of 4-ply wool; Nos. 9 and 12 needles. Begin at the lower edge of the back and cast on 110 stitches, with No. 12 needles. Rib 2 plain, 2 purl, for four inches; change to pattern and No. 9 needles; * 5 plain, 5 moss stitch; repeat from * to the end of the row.

Second row.: * 5 purl over 5 plain and i> moss stitch over v moss stitch; repeat from *to end of row. Knit until the work measures 16J inches at the underarm seam. Shape the armholes by

casting off six stitches at the beginning of the next two rows and decrease one stitch at each end. of your needle in every • other -row four times. •;Knit until the armhole measures 8J inches.

The sleeve: Begin at the lower edge of the cuff and cast on 65 stitches; rib for four inches with the smaller needles and then change to No. 9 needles and knit in pattern, increasing one stitch at each end of your needles in every seventh row until there are 96 stitches. Knit until the sleeve is long enough at the underarm seam. Knit 2 together at each end of your needle in every row until 25 remain. Cast off.. Make another sleeve to match. Press well and make up, sewing in the sleeves, seam to seam.

With No. 12 needles, pick up all the stitches round the V neck and rib 1 plain, 1 purl, for 1{ inches, always knitting 2 together on either side of the V neck in every row. '. Cast off loosely. ~ Press the neck carefully.
