MAGISTRATE'S DECISION

INVEBCARGILL, This Day.
Judgment has been delivered by the Magistrate, Mr. Levvy, in a case of tho "Southland News" against William McChesney. .Tho claim was for £39 in connection with advertising during the General Election, at which the defendant was the United Party candidate. Five members'of his finance committee were joined as defendants, McChesnex claiming that they verbally had agreed to defray his election costs.
Thfl Magistrate gave judgment for the plaintiiia under the equity and good conscience clause, holding that the claim should ho settled by tlio defendants jointly and severally.
Cost of appeal was fixed at £10 10s.
