The weather during the weekend was mostly dull and cold, with moderate to strong winds between west and south-west prevailing. During Saturday a few scattered showers only re 1 in districts with a westerly aspect, and conditions for the most part were pleasant, un Sunday however, owing to the passage of a moderate westerly depression across the Dominion, rain became fairly widespread during the day, the wind becoming more generally southerly and in the night reaching gale force in some exposed positions. By this morning conditions had improved at many places, but scattered showers were still reported, and In the northern half of the North Island southerly winds were still strong and squally.
