WOOL SITUATION

BRADFORD COMBERS BUSY

CONTINENTAL DEMAND

(Received June 5, 9 a.m.)

LONDON, June 4,

Mr. W. P. Dei'ereux, representative in London and for the Continent of the Australian Wool Growers' Association, reports a firm and active close to the London May series of wool sales. The results of the sales have left a good impression on trade. United States competition . provided a useful stimulant to' the market. The carry-over, though slightly larger than was expected, largely consists of crossbred wools, and it' is insufficient to act as a disturbing influence. Fine wools are likely to be in short supply at the next sales, beginning July 4. Bradford wooleombers are very busy. Topmakers are adopting a firm attitude and spinners are still in a difficulty in finding, a commensurate rise in prices of yarns, but slight improvements are reported. , , Prices in France have hardened, ana Germany reports improved prices for tops and yarns, although it is doubtful if these will continue in the face of exchange problems. ' The Continental futures market shows a slightly better tone. '
