A LOCAL INCIDENT
Inquiries have been made regarding a decision given by the referee in the Wellington College Old Boys-Eastbourne match at Athletic Park on Saturday when Eastbourne, late in the game, appeared to score a try from a brilliant movement. The referee, who was right up with the play and fully alive to the fact that the effort was -well worthy of a try, stated that the player lost the ball as he was propelled forward over the goal-line. There was an infringement in "in-goal," the ball having been thrown forward by the player, and, in accordance with the rules, a "touchdown" was the decision, giving the defending side a "drop-out," ..
