MR. E. A. CHAPMAN

Private advice has been received of the death, at his residence at Ganter-

Ernest Arthur Chapman, fourth son of tho late Mr. Justice H. S. Chapman, the first Supreme Court Judge at Wellington. Mr. Ernest Chapman, who wag a brother of Sir Frederick E. Chapman, of Wellington, was born at Karori in August, 1847. In 1873 ho married Florence, the eldest daughter of the late Mr. C. D. Barrnud, who died some years since. Mr,-Chapman was much interested in art, and several of his paintings were presented to tho New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts by Sir Frederick Chapman. Mr. Chapman loaves two sons and two daughters, nil living in Victoria. In- his young days Mr. Chapman was a shocp-favmcr_ iL Otago, and later in Canterbury.
