Steel Helmets ( including seventy thousand youngsters, marehod to the foot of the Schlageter Memorial as a climax to the commemoration of Schlagoter's death to hear Captain Goering speak. Captain. Goering described Schlageter as "the last soldier of the World War and the first soldier of the Third Eeich, who died defending his country's honour and peace." The memorial was raised to Leo Sehlageter, who was shot by the Frenck for sabotage in the Euhr in 1923.
