WANGANUI APPEAL
FOR ST. PETER'S CHURCH
The vestry o£ St. Peter's Church, Gonville, are making an appeal to all those many Church o£ England people, in the world, who, at some time or other in their lives, have got help and inspiration, or1 have in some way had benefit irom the old Parish Church of Wanganni, winch was for so many long years a landmark in the Avenue. The old Christ Church, with its many historic associations, was moved to Gonville, and is now known as St Peter's Church. It sadly requires repairs and a coat of paint to prevent its going into decay. At the present time the amount required for this—£2oo at least—is quite beyond the capacity of the vestry, but they confidently make the appeal to thpmany who must have fond memories of association with it to send at least one shilling to the restoration fund, which both the evening and inorning Wanganui papers—the "Herald" and the "Chronicle"—are willing to receive subscriptions for, and will acknowledge. For many years all the Church of England boys, and girls from the Collegiate School and the Wanganui Girls' College attended it every Sunday. Many men and women all over New Zealand and other parts of the world were either baptised, confirmed, or married in it, and if even a proportion of those who , have kind memories of it will send some small donation, an adequate fund for restoration will be provided.
