A SERIOUS CHARGE
, DEATH OF A GIRL

AUCKLAND* This, Day. ■■ Robert William Campbell, aged 37, described as an inventor, and Mary Campbell, aged 39, his wife, were charged in the Police Court today that with intent to procure- 3 miscarriage they did unlawfully use an instrument or other nieans on Edna Edith Fulcher, aged 24, who died, in tho Taumarunui Hospital on April 25. Lengthy evidence was given this morning by- Bernard' Francis Bland, of Ohura^ who accompanied the girl to Auckland, and later saw her at a house. He said, inter alia, that on requesting a mor,e comfortable room for the- girl, ho was told that the other rooms were occupied, but that some of fhe other girls might be going but that night.,He met both tho accused, who wera introduced to him, as Mr. and Mrs. Miller. After 11 some days the. girl was allowed to leave under his escort, but on reaching- Taumaruaui sho was ordered to hospital, where she. died. , The case is proceeding.
