Farewell Party for Lcagup Member. Members of the' committee of the Hatajtai League of Mothers gave a delightful^ afternoon tea party recently at the D.I.C. to bid fare well /to Mrs. F. 11. Waters, who is shortly leaving Wellington to take up residence in New Plymouth. About 40 ladies were present. The president, Mrs. Lundius, made reference to the fine qualities of the departing guest and the active service given by her as a member of the committee during the past five years Mention was also made of the splendid assistance given iii connection with the relief workers' soup kitchen. Mrs. Waters was presented with a basdsome brass vase, and expressions of goodwill and hopes for happiness in her future home and sphere of work were conveyed on behalf of the members of the league. Invitations Issued. A reception will be given for Mr. Peter Dawson and Seuor Tapia. Cabalero at tho Hotel St. George on Wednesday. Mrs. Bernard Wood will be the hostess for Messrs. J. and N. Tait. Two-Garment Society. The officers of The Salvation Army Samaritan Department, Cuba Street, extend grateful thanks to the ladies of the "Two-Garment Society" for their donation of a large number of garments, to'be distributed among poor families in this city. This gift will be of great assistance in the work. Garrison Ball Postponed. Tho Wellington Garrison Ball Com-, mittee has reluctantly decided to postpone the annual Garrison Ball, usually held on the King's Birthday, June 3, until 193.4. It is considered that this will be in the interests of all members of the garrison, and their many friends and supporters, owing to the present difficult times through, which we are passing. "Charity Ball." Arrangements have been nearly completed for the "Charity Ball" at the Town Hall, on Wednesday, June 7. Applications have been received from all parts of tho North Island from young ladies wishing to be presented to- his

Grace Archbishop O'Shea. The present tatiou ceremony is one -of the spectacular features of the ball, and so far over thirty debutantes are busily preparing for the big function. It is expected that this total will be consider-" ably increased before the ball take* place. The scheme of decorations is being mapped out on a most ambitious scale. In all- departments the organisers arc working at full pressure, and report that nothing is being left undone to add to the comfort and entertainment of guests. Every penny raised by the ball will be spent by tho St. Arincent do Paul Society for the relief of distress, and as the need this year is groater than ever, thu society is confident that a.large measure of -public support will be forthcoming. Tho following ladies have conseated to act, as chaperones: Signora Formichclla and Mesdaines Nihotte, George Craig, and Eugene Casey. • Wellington Regiment's Ball. Preparations are being made by thai Wellington Regiment for the ball to ba held in. the Garrisoa Hall, Bucklo Street, nest mouth. Ngaio Kindergarten Bazaar. Elsewhere in this issue will bo found details of the bazaar in aid of the Ngaio Free Kindergarten, which will be opened by .Mrs. K. A. Wright in the Town Hall, .Ngaio, ou Thursday, Juno 1, at 2.30 p.m. Every effort has been made to provide an attractive afternoon's entertainment, and one of mutual advantage to the kindergarten and its many kind and loyal supporters. At the annual meeting of the Island Bay branch of the Plunket Society, held in the Methodist Schoolroom, Mrs. Tythe-Brown gave a very interesting and instructive address on the early care of infants..
