Tho ship was in tho Gulf Stream an April, 1930, when speculation on tho nature and direction of tho stream caused a group of passengers to attempt their,experiment. A pmt champagne bottle was used, its cork being driven in and shaved level with tho glass and a thick layer of scaling wax placed over tho cork. The finder sent the following note: — "Sir, I am a very poor woman and have the care of an invalid husband, so you can imagine how glad I was when I picked up this notes and found that I am to receive a reward for it. God in Heaven will Toward you, for He says .that what you give.to the poor you only lend, to Him." . A sum "substantially in* excess of thn promised .reward lias been .forwarded to tho woman, in the' West Indies.
