THE AMERICANS' VISIT

PROFIT OF £57,

The visit of the United States team of teunis .players to New Zealand last season resulted in a profit of £57 to the association, states the quarterly report of the management committee of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis. Association presented at a general meeting of the council of the I association last evening. The report stated that the financial position of the association was maintained , during the past six months. The £1000 ' s'/6 per cent. The loan to tho Wellington Lawn Tennis Association j was reduced by £100, and vow stood at £185. Cash at the Bank of New Zea- j land was £243 ]0s Cd, and in the Savings Bank £3IS 8s sd. Mention was made of the good performance of. E. D. Andrews and A. C. Stedman in an international march with the Lawn Teuuis Association of Ceylon. In this match the New Zcalauders wou the four singles matches and lost the one doubles match. Andrews -won the open singles, and with Stedman the doubles, in the Ceylon lawn tennis championships. There was a profit on the match. The report ou the,, junior hard-courts championships held in Auckland during the school holidays in May, stated that not a great deal of interest was Bhown in the tournament, but on the Auckland Association expressing confidence in being able to induce affiliated associations to give more support, it was authorised to proceed with the arraugements. The Canterbury Association was approached regarding the holding of the vest New Zealand championships in Christchurch. The proposed dates for the championships are Christmas • and New Year. NOTICES OF MOTION. Several notices of motion' were before the meeting.. The Canterbury Lawu Tennis Association's motion that the rules should be amended to provide that the president of the association shall have an ex-oilicio seat on the management aud all other standing committees of the association was lost. It was decided that all district associations should be requested when sending a letter or circular to other district asfibciatious concerning auy matter to be considered at any'general .meeting of the council, to send a copy of the letter to (he management committee at the same time as it is sent to other associations, and nt least fourteen days before the meeting. The following motion, moved by the Waugauui Association, was-, carried: — "That in future in all handicap matches played iv tournaments held by associations affiliated to the N.Z.L.T.A., the system of handicapping to be adopted shall be that of games and not points. The basis of scoring shall be the eamo as that adopted iv all New Zealaud championships, viz., 15, 30, 40, game, and players .shall be credited with such proportions of these scores or debited therewith, in portions of sixths, as the handicappers may determine." . The Auckland Associatiou gave notice to move that, the junior hard-court championships should be held annually, and in the main school holidays. The Wanganui Association gave notice to move that the playing annually of the New Zealand hard-court championships should be taken into consideration.
