HEAVY TRAFFIC
;, There has been very heavy traffic over the Stratf6rd:Maia Trunk railway, since it was recently opened, said the New Plymouth stationmaster (Mr.,""W.'. G. Stewart) to a "Taranaki Herald" leporter on Thursday. On occasions an extra engine has b.een required. Last weekj in particular, several goods trains required two engines. This was largely due to the reopening of the Y?aikato coaPmines, the transport required for this commodity being, far above the average. The new time-table, which comes, into operation on June 4> is being favourably regarded by both town, and country residents of Te Kuiti, They state that a long-felt want will be met by the midday train, from T.e Kuiti, with connections, at Pranktoa with' express trains for Auckland, Botorua, and Tauranga. Travellers arriving at Te Kuiti at midday from New Plymouth and southern Kawhja will now be able to reach Auckland in a few hours, '
