UPPER HOUSE-REFERENDUM
ARGUMENT IN FULL COURT
SYDNEY, May 25.
Argument regarding the validity 'of the recent Legislative Council referendum began today in the State Pull Court before Mr. Justice Harvey, Mr. Justice Long-Inncs, and Mr. Justice Davidson. There was a formidable array of counsel, three .King's Counsel being on each side» ". Mr. Lbxton, K.C., for plaintiffs, substantiaHy claimed that there has not been * a proper.' submission of the referendum to the. people, who have not been properly informed of the dotails of the Bill for the reform of the Legislative Council. , ; Mr. Justice Davidson at one stage interposedrr Would ''it not be an adequate, submission if the electors were told, as they were, you may see a copy of this Bill at such and such a place, or1 do you argue that every* elector must receive a copy of the Bill? Mr. Loxton: I claim that more must be done than was done at this election. The hearing was adjourned.
