KILBIRNIE RESERVE
CUSTODIAN RETIRING
Within the next few days Mr. W. Dobson, a familiar figure on the Kilbirnie Eeserve for the past twenty years, will retire from the position of custodian and groundsman. -. During his period of service Mr. Dobson has seen the reserve expand and improve under his care from a small area in a rough' state to the large ground which now provides for six Bugby, Association, or hockey matches in the winter and as many as ten cricket matches in - tho summer. Although Mr. Dobson has reached a time when ho must retire, he has_still plenty of energy, and it seems a pity thajt his services are to be lost for his ability as a groundsman is as pronounced as ever. ' "Dobbie," as he is familiarly known, will bo greatly missed by those who participate in the sports played on the Kilbirnie -ground, particularly by cricketers and more.especially by members of the Kilbirnie Cricket Club. To him belongs very largely the credit for bringing senior cricket to Kilbirnie, thereby enabling the. local club to reach its present high standard. As a mark of appreciation a farewell function to Mr. Dobson is being arranged and suitable recognition shown of his work.
