DAWSON-CABALLERO
1 Great artists may come and go, but the name ot Peter Dawsou will .go down in the annals of musical chronicles as one of the most popular of the world s singeib, who rarely fails to fill even the-bire«t of the famous concert halls. His recent concert at Perth, Western Australia, according to the local-critic, was one ot those artistic and inspiring treats tor which one often longs and bo seldom gets. The baritone was in perfect! voice, jvj emte of his only having arrived from London two days ago, and' the eight numbers of his programme plus innumerable encores, were all rendered with that exquisite ability and artistic interpretation which have placed Mr. Dawson in the front rank of popular singers. Jlie ease, "race, and pleasure with .which the artist performs arc insidious, and the listener unconsciously relaxes and willingly allows the singer, to take him into emotional flights, for whether he renders an aria, a bnllad, or a folk-song, the baritone makes of it something beautiful ana elegant. Mr. Dawson's associate, benor Tapia Caballero, a Spanish pianist, created quite a furore with his. bewitching pianisshnos, thrilling crescendos, and fortjssiinosr Needless to say, the combined artistic eflort of both artists met with a great reception, the huge audience vociferously echoing its delight long after concert closing time." Three concerts will be given in the Town Hall, on the nights of Thursday, June ]; Saturday, June 3; and Tuesday, June C, under the direction of Messrs. j. and N;' Tait.
