EYES ON SCHLESWIG
GERMANS WORRY DANES Denmark is greatly worried over the wave of Hitlerism that; 'is sweeping over Germany and. over; its borders into Denmark. The Hitlerites have set their eyes upon North Schleswig, which Denmark got back from Germany after the World War, and the Nazis are planning to send delegations of their uniformed into the Danish part of North, Sehleswig to gain proselytes for the Hitler gospel among the German minority in North Schleswig, says the "San Francisco Chronicle." But the Danish • Government acted quickly and passed a law on April 12, fom4 days before Easter, when a great Nazi demonstration was to have taken place in the Danish town of Tinglev, forbidding adherents of any political party, Communist,' Fascist, or Nazist, to appear at political meetings in uniform.- Denmark also sent a hundred extra policemen to tho border to prevent Hitler agitators from preaching their doctrine on Danish soil. Nevertheless, tho Germans are agitating to have North Schleswig returned. The Mayor of Eckemforde, Sieweres, said: "Wo shall no longer tolerate tho injustice of the Danes from 1918-20. We shall never recognise this border line. We shall see to it that it is revised, and that it is revised according to our wishes and not as the Danes want it revised. We want North Schleswig back again. The- battle will bo fought north of tho.border, but it will be prepared south of tho border. Wa are getting tired of having a small nation dictate to us. where the border line shall be." * Another speaker, the leader of the Nazis •in Sehleswig-Holstein, said in Flensburg on April 5: , ■ . "Tho lovo for -Denmark that used to.exist in this province has been turned into hate. Tho day will come when the German flag will again wave in Schleswig. With our methods of attack we will exterminate the view of life of the Danes." / Replying to this speech, HV C. Hanssen, leader of the Danes in Schleswig, says: ' "Denmark will decide on the limit of this kind of propaganda. The only thing these agitators will accomplish will be Denmark's interference to protect its national interests."
