MASTERTON SHOW

Entries for the Masterton A. and P. Show, which will be held on the beautiful grounds at Solway, Masterton, are now coming to hand. There are about 40 cups and trophies, available for competition, in addition to the usual prize moneys. It is anticipated, that the sheep entries will again be large. This year the pens of four in the fat and freezing sheep and lamb classes have been reduced to pens of three. A special feature will be made of the .fat cattle sections, and a large number of entries have already been promised. Exhibitors in the freezing cattle classes may have their cattle- taken over at schedule rates by Messrs. Xhos. Borthwiek and Sons, who will give further cash' prizes of £3, £2, and £1 for their judging on the hooks at Waingawa works. Messrs. Michie and White, ,of London, have again donated £15 on their judging, of lambs and tegs sent to them for sale and report. The Wholesale Society of Manchester has also donated a silver cup for most points in fat and freezing sheep and lambs. They also donate a miniature to the winner each year. Mr. Pat Borthwiek donates a cup to the champion pony, the winner each year to receive a miniature. The Wairarapa Kennel Club will make a feature of ,the dog section by donating a small cup to the best in every breed. These are in addition to numerous other specials and cups. Ihere are several specials in the poultry and pigeon section which should again attract good competition. The ring events are well catered for with good prizes and several cups. Mr. Harold Scales has donated a silver cup for the champion jumper. There are also classes for home industries, sewing, and .fancywork, fruit and vegetables. Entries for both the show and the ram and ewe fair close on 30th January. Schedules may be had free on application to the secretiry, Box 40, Masterton.
