SUSPECTED OF THEFT WARRANT FOR ARREST^ ■ (By Telegraph."—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, 12th January. The theft of over £700 of Government funds on account o£ the Labour Department in Auckland was discovered when tho office of the Department re-opened after the Christmas and New Year holidays. It is stated that an official of the Department presented a cheque for over £700 at the bank just before the official Christmas vacation. It was not until after the holidays that it was discovered that an unauthorised sum had been drawn from, the account. - The official under suspicion has not reported for duty Bince the resumption of work after the holidays, and he is believed to have left the country. "It is understood that a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
