THE MONETARY SYSTEM
OPEN INQUIRY URGED (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) HAMILTON, 12th January. Eesolutions condemning the Keserve Bank Bill, and urging the Government to reduce interest rates ■ and import duties on necessaries of life, the means of production, and on goods of-British, origin, were carried at a mass meeting of 1500 farmers and citizens last evening. The speakers were Captain H. M. Rush worth, M.P., Messrs. C. J. Parlane (general manager of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Co.), and F. H. Anderson (chairman of the Cambridge Cooperative Dairy Co.). A resolution. was also carried' urging a full, open inquiry into the existing monetary system, and investigation into the proposal to establish and maintain a system in direct ratio to the exportable produce of the Dominion.
