INVERCARGILL'S WEATHER (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) INVERCAEGILL, 12th January; ' lavereargill, which had a record'of 220 hours' sunshine for Decemher, looks like establishing a record for the first month of the New; Year. Unhrbken sunshine has been the order for several days past, with exceptional heat. The thermometer registered 85 degrees in the shade yesterday, which was.not only the highest reading this summer, but is possibly the highest reading recorded in Invercargill. In January, 1922, 84 degrees was reached, and readings of 82 " degrees have been fairly frequent. Invercargill's previous hottest day this summer was on 26th December, the reading being 80.5 degrees. Yesterday the maximum point was reached in the early afternoon. The solar heat yesterday reached 137 degrees, the highest this year, though in' former years 142 degrees had been reached. . ' • ■ .
