RANKING OF THE NATIONS RUSSIA PLACED FIRST United Press Association—By Electric Telk.' graph—Copyright. (Received 13th January, 3.15 p.m.) WASHINGTON, 12th January. The United States ranks seventeenth' in military strength among the nations, General Macarthur informed the Housa of Representatives Appropriations Committee: She had 132,069 men on tha active service" list 'and 307,120- in the reserve. The British Empire ranks eleventh, with 403,182 on the active list and 711,453, in the reserve, and 48 569 in the Air Force. : Russia is placed first with 845,600 oa the active list and 18,025,000 in reserve; France second with 607,000 on th© active Kst, 6,328,000 in reserve, and 40,005 in the air force; Italy third with 457,189 on the active list, 6,017,000 in reserve, and 23,452 in the air force.
