Frederick Avery, alias Scaton, aged 45 years, a boot repairer, and his daughter, Bita Isobel Avery, alias Scaton, aged 20 years, were arrested at Pukekoho yesterday on a charge of incest When they appeared at the Police Court to-day and applied for bail, De-tective-Sergeant Kelly said: "I object to bail in either case. There may be a charge of murder before this is finished, concerning tho suffocation of a child born to tho female accused. It was found dead in a cot." Bail was refused.
