JUDGE SCHOLES

SYDNEY, This Day. Obituary: Judge Scholes, at the..ago of 74 years.

Judge Edward Scholes was a District Court Judge of New South Wales from 1908, and during the absence on leava of Judge Heydon he acted as President of the New South Wales Industrial Court. He was educated at Armidala 'School, admitted as a solicitor in 18S0, went to England, and was called to the Bar. He returned to Sydney in 1886, and became a member of the New South. Wales Bar. He was entrusted with the formidable tasks of settling disputes connected with the Newcastle coal mines and the Lithgow ironworks.
