1 (Received 21st December, 8l a.m.) CALCUTTA, 19th December. Mr. John Gilbert Bourne,' Deputy Commissioner for the Betul district of the Central Provinces, died as the result of injuries received' from a tiger while. he was gallantly attempting to rescue an'lndian beater who was being mauled. Mr. Bourne shot and fatally wounded one tiger, whose mate attacked the beater and then turned on Mr. Bourne.
