■ The annual meeting of the Petone Tennis Club was held on Wednesday, about thirty members being present. Mr. R. W. Toomath .took the qhair in the absence of tho president ,(Mr. W. G. Lodder). The annual report and balance-sheet were ■■ adopted, and showed the club,to have had a fair year in spite of the bad times. It was decided to make a reduction in the subscription for one year and to waive nomination fees, also for one year. The Ist October was chosen' as opening day, and a dance will be held in the pavilion, on that night. The following, officers were elected:— President, Mr. W. G. Lodder; vicepresidents, Messrs. J. C. Burns, A. Greening. D. McKenzie, and W. 'Nash, M.P.; club captain, Mr. D, H. le Souef; hon. solicitor, Mr. G. Findlay; hon. secretary, Mr. W. Ross; hon. auditor. Miss A. M. Cochrane; hon. treasurer, Mr. A. R. A. Clark; management committee, Messrs. Croudis, Eadie, Pearce, Rodger, and Stodart; club delegates, Messrs. A. R. A. Clark and S. L. Rodger.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) NELSON, 22nd September. ' The following-members were elected to the Tahunanui Town Board jesterday: ijessrs. Chas. Chamberlain, M. O'Sullivan, M. W. Grace, G. Cunningham, T. W. Koberts, W. G. Tiller, and L. Ingham. There were 13 nominations for seven seats. • At last evening's,meeting of directors of the Permanent Building Society, opt of ten applications for loans considered, eight were for either houses to be erected, in course of erection, or juat completed, in Nelson City and surrounding district, showing that business in the building line is-steadily improving. It might also be mentioned that during-the past few months, at each meeting, ther.e has been quite a number of -- applications for loans on new dwellings.
