TWO SKELETONS
UNEARTHED IN QUARRY
Whether further excavating will show" that the quarrj\is at the site of an old burying ground, either -of the Maoris i or of the early settlers, remains to ,be seen, but so far two skeletons have, been unearthed in the quarry recently opened up on the scafront about a quartor of a mile past the Happy Valley, stream in the direction of Red Rocks. Tho skeletons, which were practically complete, wero found near tho surface of tho ground about 10ft above the .water level, and only ,a short distance from the water's edge. They were evidently the remains of adult persons. " " Also in the quarry has been found a tooth, apparently of & seal or other sea creature, but so far it has not been identified. . ..
