During the lost tvrenty-four. hours the anti-cyclone covering New Zealand has lost sonic of its intensity, and at the same time a depression situated to the northward has deepened. The hitter has caused ' freshening easterly to,south-easterly winds over the Auckland peninsula, and shpwers have fallen in the extreme north and between* East Capo and Napier. Over tho greater part of tho Dominion, however,'"the leather has continued to be fine and pleasant with variable breezes. - Last night was again cold and there were many, and in places severe, frosts.

Auckland had fine -and sunny, weather yesterday, although it clouded over at.times, the wind, being a jight south-easterly. WeHingtoii again had a calm and beautiful. day,. although there was rather more cloud than on the previous day. There was ho. frost recorded at Kelburn, the lowest grass reading^ being 32.3 degrees, tut in Lower Hutt a severe frost of nine degrees was registered. Christchurch haQ a fine and blight day yesterday, and jt was very cold in the evening.' In spite of tho fact that it clouded over before dawn, twelve degrees of frost were recorded. In Dunedin the weather was fine, although cloudy at times.

Moderate northerly winds are forecasted for far southern districts, with freshening south-easterlies to -easterlies elsewhere.
