During the last five months of his employment on the staff of the W.F.C.A., Ltd., work had been rationed. Ede had been required, to stand down one week in every six or seven, and his wages had averaged £3 to £3 Ss a week. The prisoner's position was .not due to any riotous living, gambling, speculation, or drink, and he had the repatation of being sober, and industrious His Honour said he did not thiuk -there was any question about Ede's character. Counsel asked that the prisoner be given a chance and admitted to probation. Complete restitution had been made. : Ede was admitted to twelve months' probation on the usual terms, and on the additional condition that he pays the costs of the prosecution, £2 Bs, under the direction of the Probation Officer.
