SIZES OF MESH
NEW FISHING REGULATIONS
The following flit-orations in regard to the fishing regulations under the fisheries Act of 1908 have been, gazetted:—Subject to any other regulations for the time boing in force- in respect of the size of mesh of any particular type of 'net, the mesh of every set net or seine net used for taking fish in any waters of the Dominion shall, when prepared for use,'be as follows:—Flounder set nets, not lesa than 4in; flounder soino or drag nets, not loss than 2-Jin; mullet nets, not Ices than 3-jin; herring nets, not less than 1-Jin; garfish or piper nets, not less than lin. Nets (other than Danish seine nets) used for taking other species'of fish, not less than 2^in. Provided that on and after Ist Oetob'cr, 1932, the mesh of every seine or drag net used for taking flounders shall measure when prepared for use not less than 4in.
Another "Gazette" notice prohibits, under a penalty of :t fine of' £20, trawling, or the use of a trawl not for tlio purpose of fishing, in fin area of the sea within a radius of Ihrcc miles from the signal sfntion on -the North .Head at the entrance to Uir Manawatu Kiver,
