WASHINGTON, 12th October. "What is wrong with bringing* number of British warships to the United States in exchange for debt payments?" The sponsors of this plan are not named, but the story is being published and discussed here. Uncle Sam, it is said, could use about 100,000 tons of late model cruisers and battleships, which she would swap.for credit amounting to between £30,000j000 and £50,000,000. It is suggested that this would enable tho United States to attain early tonnage parity with Britain. Especially would the United State*; like to have the battle-cruiser Hood.
