CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS
Steady progress is being made with thii interesting competition, which is a full 7» round tourney, as each iof the eight, clubs affiliated to the Wellington.Chess League haa entered a competitor. Two of the entrants »re still undefeated, viz., A. W. Gyles (3-0) and K. Beyer (3 wins and 3 draws. These two leaders are drawn1 to play each other in the final round, which is scheduled to be completed by the 31st instant. Mr. Gyles, who has won this tourney regularly during the past six years, is a pawn down in his adjourned game* against Messrs. G. P. Anderson and S. Faulknor. The issue is therefore still very; open, especially as Messrs. Anderson, Faulknor, and Fouhy—who are still in th« hunt—are all showing good form.
