WORKLESS WOMEN
Y.W.C.A. HELP
For sixteen weeks now the Y.W.C.A. has kept open a service bureau to register and help unemployed women and girls.- The association has been, able to find employment for 342 of the applicants, this being 38 per cent, of those registered, a very fine record of good work. It is stated that work continues to be very "slack" in the mending and darning depot, and orders for plain sewing, as 'well as socks, stockings, house linen, etc., for darning and repairing, will be much appreciated, and a substantial help to the workers. It is intended later on to hold a sale of goods made by the handicrafts and cookery classes, each girl to receive the profits on the goods she has made. The work of girls who*have passed their unemployed time by sewing at home will also be presented for sale at the same time. Thanks are given by the Y.'W.C.A. board of directors to all who have helped by finding work, or in other ways, and further help is desired where possible. .
