NGAIO GARDEN CLUB

The monthly meeting and lecture arranged by the Ngaiu Garden Club was held in the Njraiu Town Hall last week. Mr. O. Gidall presided over it large attendance "f member?, and introduced "the lecturer, Mr. K. A. Nieol, who spoko on llowcriiis shrubs and their cultivation. He referred especially to the growth in popularity of flowering shrubs and ornamental trees for gardens, this advance being due in great measure to the discoveries uf Forrest, Fairer, and E. H. Wilson. Owing to their efforts the plant treasures in the most remote parts uf India, China, and Tibet were now available throughout the world. Shrubs, trees, and hedge plants of more familiar variety were discussed, and useful advice^ given on overcoming difficulties. Mr. Nicol also spoke on the growing of mushrooms from spawn. Mr. H. L. Cummings joined with the president in expressing to-the lecturer the club's appreciation of his address.
