On Thursdny'next, in tho Town Hall Concert Chamber, at 8 p.m., the Wellington Harmonic Society, under the conductorship of Mr. H. Temple White, will feivo the first concert of its 1031 season. , ThFs society makes a spocialty of unaccompanied part-singing, and during the sixteen years it has been in.existence has gathorod round it a compact body of subscribers, who eagerly, look- forward to its appearances. " An effort is being made to increase tho number of * subscribing members, and particulars are to- bo found in our advertising columns. An excellent programme has been arranged lor next Thursday, among the society's numbers being: "It Was tho Time of Roses" and "King Arthur", {Robertson). '"O Little. Snowflake" (Cyril Jenkins),. "May Comes Laughing" (Strong), "A Love Symphony" (Percy Pitt), and tha rousing "Song of Thor" !'(Maunder): Special Interest attaches to the engagement of Mr. Rex Harrison (baritono). who has Riven recitals in many of tho leading cities of Australia, and is tho holder of many Australian aud Now Zealand vocal championships. Mr. Harrison is well known "over the air," but this .will be his first appearance on the concert platform 'In Wellington. His numbers will include "To the Forest" (Tschaikowsy), "How's My Boy* (Sidney Homer)", "Vulcan's' Song" (Gounod), "The Wraith" (Schubert), and "It Is Enough," from Mendelssohn's "Elijah." Instrumental items will be contributed by Miss Elvira Wycherley.a talented 'cellist from Paliuorston North, who will ipiay "Song of India" (Rlnisky-Korsakoil), "Orlentalo" (Cesar Cvi), "H^mabdll" (Bantoc'K), and "Dance of the Elves" (Jenkinson). Tho box plan is now open at the Bristol, and intending patrons aro advised to book early or inquiro regarding concession for regular 'subscribers. .
